Themes and ranked/unranked games?

I heard that there are multiple themes and that you could play ranked or unranked games, but where could they be chosen?

Hi tangentg, apologies for the late reply - ranked/unranked games are set up automatically according to the number of human players at a game. If each island is controlled by one unique human player, then the game is ranked, otherwise it's unranked.

Also not sure what you mean by multiple themes?
