Etiquette for joining a game

Postby stewai380 » Sun Apr 05, 2015 6:46 am

What's the etiquette for joining a game? Say you're in the lobby and someone starts a (non-private) game. Is it OK to start playing one of the islands uninvited? What if the game is, say, 10% done - is it OK to join the game then?

Hi stewai, in general it should be ok to join the game as the game won't affect the rankings - with a ranked game, only players that started the game can re-join their islands if they get disconnected. It's likely that most people who want to play strictly against AI do so with a private game, but some people send a chat message first asking for permission when joining a game - do you reckon this should be the standard etiquette?

Also, the next software update will have some improvements to the chat, including clearer visual notifications when a new chat message is received (the chat area will glow orange when a new message has not been received for more than e.g. 10 minutes), so this should make asking to join a game an easier process.
