Here are couple suggestion. A sound signal at the game start. I'm sometimes alt-tabbed waiting for friends to come and start and they actually have to text me on the phone. And also sometimes you need to afk, and a beep ability in this case would help to let others know I'm back.

Hi eqlipt, yeah excellent ideas - these will be added as part of the web-based edition of TE. (the Java version is not currently in development)
