Beeb/event if it is my turn to do something

Sometimes, people take quite long or seem not to notice that its their turn, and having a limited attention span I often alt-tab to a different program.

Maybe this is already possible, but it would be great if you can get some event, audible or via the OS standard event mechanism (no idea if that is possible from java) whenever your input is required (always or optionally only when game window has no focus)

Yeah it would probably be best done as an audible sound, as I don't think there is a standard method of triggering a built-in OS event. Good idea for detecting whether the game window is in focus as to whether to play the sound or not - this can be done in a cross-platform way.

Any idea for what sound could be used as standard? It would need to be public domain.

Excellent cheers - yeah some of those are suitable. I might also look through the sound files used in OpenTTD, as Tropic Euro already uses quite a lot of graphics from that project.
